In a high-performance system, hitting disk storage is an unpleasant place to be -- and, for the most part, you actually don't have to. ORMs and SQL databases might seem like a necessary evil, but do we actually need them?

In this talk we'll take a look at CQRS and event sourcing as a way to create systems with extremely high throughput and low latency.
